Happy #SaturdaySweat!

First, EXCITING NEWS–> I have been accepted as a FitFluential Ambassador!! I am SO incredibly blessed to be a part of this healthy, supportive community!

I’m trying to fit my Saturday Sweat in while I’m on the road. Working shows means long, long hours. Heck, most business traveling means long hours period. Out the door by 6:40 a.m., done working, then dinner, then back by 9:30-10pm means I have LITTLE motivation to workout.

However, I NEED to fit in something while on the road. Our bodies actually crave a little sweat and it helps wake them up! Moving my muscles a little bit in the room before leaving for the day helps build up some energy to power me through.

Two pieces of exercise equipment I like to travel with that are EASY to pack:

  • Resistance Bands
  • Paper Plates

If I jumped rope more, I’d pack jump ropes.–> Mental motivation to do that more.¬†Once at my destination I use a small hand towel for towel workouts–> see this example.

If I don’t have time to hit an exercise room or if there’s not one available I move through a sequence of:

  • ¬†bicep curls w/ resistance bands
  • squats to shoulder presses w/ resistance bands
  • rows w/ resistance bands
  • tricep kickbacks w/ resistance bands
  • mountain climbers with paper plates under feet
  • sliding lunges with paper plates under feet
  • jumping jacks
  • high knees
  • pushups
  • situps

These are done in no particular order, just a hand-full of exercises that are easy to do with little equipment.

Greatist has a wonderful post on 33 Resistance Band Exercises.

Powercakes has also been hosting a Paper Plates Challenge showing many variations of exercises that can be done with paper plates.\

So I’m mixing it up and getting a little sweat on while away! How about you?!

How do you fit in fitness while on the road?

The paper plate idea is so smart for traveling!

Usually when traveling, I like to work my workouts into my day so I can enjoy the time spent with friends or family – things like hikes, bike riding, walking etc that you would do anyway but get you out and about and moving.

I also usually like to walk around new places and explore (well, power walk/wog) but that’s not always the safest to do in some places so I’ll either hit up the treadmill at the hotel gym or we’ll do a HIIT workout in our room using YouTube videos and whatever we can find that’s heavy enough to stand in for weights :P (big water bottles usually do the trick!)

Generally when on vacation, I only work out if I can make it part of my day easily – I’m traveling! I don’t want to miss incredible experiences because I’m too busy working out!
